It may be time to upgrade that covered patio. If you put some thought and work into it now, you could have a comfortable and eye-catching entertainment area by the time summer comes around again. The great news is that it doesn’t take much to turn a covered patio into a beautiful new entertainment area. Follow this simple step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Set up a canopy or umbrella for cover
First things first: that patio needs to be well covered. You want to keep your guests shielded against the hot sun while they enjoy cocktails and entrees on a Saturday afternoon. Depending on the size and layout of the patio, you could either install a permanent canopy or invest in one or two high-quality umbrellas – side post or center post options could work, depending on your preferences, the design of the patio and your seating plan. Poggesi has many models to choose from.
Step 2: Choose The right lighting
Your patio isn’t only for entertaining on sunny days; you will obviously want to continue entertaining after the sun goes down, and that means creating the right atmosphere. There are so many truly beautiful lighting ideas out there, many of which are affordable and can even be put together using materials you may have readily to hand. You could string fairy lights under your canopy, make lanterns out of paper bags, tin cans or wine bottles, or do something creative with tea lights and mason jars. At the other end of the spectrum, you can get a lighting designer to install high-end LED lights. It’s up to you, but just make sure that the lights you choose enable you to create the atmosphere you want.
Step 3: Include tables or benches for outdoor seating
You may already have outdoor furniture lying around, or you might wish to buy new pieces especially for your new entertainment area. Use the space wisely, economically and creatively, and always use what best fits the design and spirit of your seating area, whether that mixed and matched chairs from an antique store or a trendy new table-and-chair set.
Step 4: Include patio heaters, blankets and pillows
Add the finishing touches to your seating with pillows and blankets, matching or contrasting designs and colors as you see fit. Focus on comfort first. If you will be entertaining in the evenings when the temperature drops, then it is probably a good idea to bring in a patio heater or two.Poggesi has been a leader in the shading industry since 1964.
